59 teachers to be appointed in 13 govt colleges

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 59 teachers will be appointed in newly-begun 13 government Arts and Science colleges in the State. The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting today and it comes as part of the government’s move to allot government colleges in Assembly constituencies that don’t have such colleges.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said at the cabinet briefing that permission has also been given for recruitment to 28 guest-lecturer posts, which demand working hours of 8 to 12.

“All casual labourers working in Chettachal Jersey farm on rotation basis have been given permission to continue as casual workers, so as to assure them of job security. The above decision follows the finding that the Agriculture department’s earlier order regularising just 69 casual workers was not as per law,” he said.

“Special officer V K Beeran has been entrusted with the duty to prepare a report on forming a regulatory board to take care of senior citizens’ rights. He will enjoy advocate general’s position and  get a fixed amount as honorarium . He has been asked to submit the report within six months, after making necessary changes in the existing law in this regard,” the chief minister added.
