Family bars, graft in govt increased: Antony

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AICC working committee member A K Antony has said that as bars were shut down,  the number of family bars increased by 30 per cent and there is also an increase in corruption at government level. He made this remark while inaugurating the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebration of Kerala Secretariat Association.

“Family bars will destroy families completely. Kerala is tourists’ land. The utmost discipline here is seen at retail alcohol shops. Teachers, government officials and daily labourers here queue up before the shop with discipline and they don’t need any police constable to control them.” he said

“Awareness programmes against increasing alcoholism should be intensified. The government alone can’t do this… service organisations and political institutions should take it up. Family relations are fallign apart. The number of divorces is on the rise. Happy family life becomes a distant dream. The reason for this is western countries’ family atmosphere making inroads into Kerala,” he added.
