KOZHIKODE: Steps will be taken to renovate Mittai Theruvu, said Minister Dr M K Muneer. Further steps will be taken after visiting the place and compensation would be given to the traders, he said. An amount of Rs 30 lakh would be given from the MLA fund for safety measures, he said.
An emergency meet presided over by Minister Muneer would be convened at the district secretariat this afternoon to discuss the loss. The police, dog squad and finger print experts reached the Koyenco Bazar in Mittai Theruvu where a fire broke out last night and inspected the whole place this morning.
Meantime, KSEB executive engineer said short circuit has not been confirmed as the reason for the incident.
Several shops were gutted in the fire, which broke out last night. A loss of Rs 26 crore has been estimated.
