Cong will not succumb to unwarranted pressure from UDF allies: Sudheeran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president V M Sudheeran has said that as a party that heads the UDF, it will solve all reasonable complaints of the allies but will not succumb to their unwarranted pressure tactics. “There is no differentiation between big parties and small parties. Congress has not shown big brother attitude towards any party,” said Sudheeran at a press conference here on Saturday.

He said UDF’s regional rallies would not be postponed at any cost. “The decision on rallies was taken unitedly by UDF leaders after discussions. It is part of UDF’s political campaign. It will go on as decided previously and changing the decision will send a wrong message. I don’t think any ally will skip the rally,” he was responding to Finance Minister K M Mani’s opinion that rallies need to be held only after bar bribery probe is over.

He said UDF subcommittee had submitted reports regarding the Palakkad defeat to the chief minister and it was yet to reach the KPCC. “KPCC didn’t probe the issue as the UDF had appointed a subcommittee to do the job. Further action will be taken after the report reaches the KPCC.”

Regarding the bar bribery case, he said the probe was heading in the right direction. “If solid and convincing evidence is received, it will be treated seriously. Probe is going on against persons, irrespective of the positions they hold. I don’t think even the Opposition has any complaint about the probe,” he added.
