Not gloating over verdict: T J Joseph

KOCHI: Former New Man College lecturer, whose palm was chopped off for allegedly setting a derogatory question on Prophet Muhammad, said on Friday that he was not rejoicing over the verdict that sentences the convicts to imprisonment. “Long before I had forgiven them…,” he told media persons after the verdict was pronounced.

Meanwhile, Prosecution counsel said the quantum of punishment was less and they would approach the high court for increasing the punishment.

The NIA team which investigated the case also expressed its dissatisfaction over the verdict, “despite the crime being clearly proved”.

Kochi NIA court today ordered eight-year jail for first ten convicts and two years in jail for three others.
