Muslim not secular party: Kanam Rajendran

KOZHIKODE: CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran has said that the party is not of the opinion that  Muslim League is a secular party.

“Since League does not segregate religion from politics, we can’t consider it as a secular party.  He was speaking at a meet the press programme organised by Kozhikode Press Club on Tuesday.

“The League has not been able to differentiate between religion and politics. It will take time for League to be called a secular party,” he said.

Kanam said CPM’s policy of finding no harm in making killers also election candidates could not be accepted. “But this attitude cannot be changed by our sole efforts,” he added.

CPM Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan had the other day said it was not the time then to examine whether the League is a communal party or not. He had also alleged that SDPI and Jamaat e islami had the character of terrorist groups.
