THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Shobhana has said that whatever the reason might me, she will not return the national recognitions awarded to her.
“People eligible for the awards are selected by special committees formed at appropriate times. We accept the awards with great respect. Then what is need to return them in the name of issues that pop up in later times,” she quipped at a meet the press programme at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on Tuesday.
“I don’t know the political issues now. I got the award because I deserved it. I don’t know why people return the award. Some don’t take the award because they feel it has arrived late and not at the right time when they deserved it.
Shobana said she would do more experiments in the dance field.
The actress was in the City to perform a dance programme in the Surya Festival. She said it was her great privilege to perform for the 25th consecutive time in the Surya festival.
Surya Krishnamoorthy, Press Club Secretary S L Shyam and Joint Secretary Nissar Muhammed also spoke during the occasion.
