Will PC George quit as MLA?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are talks in the political circles about the possibility of former Chief Whip P C George resigning his MLA post soon after the local body election. Circles close to him say if the Speaker doesn’t take an unbiased stand on Mani Group’s complaint against George based on anti-defection law, he will be thinking about resignation.

His tendency to side the Left in the upcoming Local body election also points fingers at this. The other day George had shared the dais with CPM state Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at the Left convention at Errattupettah. This shows Geroge’s new-found affinity towards the Left.

George has asked the question if the Congress can befriend the CPM and Muslim League in Malappuram, why can’t it happen in Kottayam. Why is he blamed so much for his LDF leanings? He would go for harsh steps based on the Speaker’s decision on the complaint against him.

Government Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan had filed a complaint against George. Based on the complaint, the Speaker is collecting evidence and recording statement. The other day Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President V M Sudheeran had recorded their statement. The recording of statements will continue on October 26.
