Assembly discusses street dog issue; Jaleel points out hurdles

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader today created din in the Assembly over street dog issue, blaming the government for it. They gave notice for adjournment motion. The Opposition said four people were allegedly killed over the last four months due to dog-bites. They said the government had failed in controlling the street dog population.

The notice for adjournment motion was given by the Opposition in the wake of an old man in Varkala allegedly being mauled to death by a few street dogs.

Meanwhile, Minister Jaleel said, there were certain obstacles in controlling the dog population. “The government steps will take time to complete. In the State there are 2:5 lakh street dogs and this number can be reduced within a time span of 2:5 years,” he added.
