Thomas Isaac supports K M Abraham

ALAPPUZHA: Finance Minister Dr Thomas Isaac came out in support of finance department additional chief secretary K M Abraham in the disproportionate assets petition against him. Abraham is an official who fought against corruption. Talking to reporters here, he said the chief minister will examine whether lapses have occurred in the vigilance raid at Abraham’s house.

Abraham has a history of taking a strong stand against corruption. Isaac lauded the activities of Abraham during the tenure of the previous government and his stint in the centre. His anti-corruption stand was proved in the Sahara case. The centre obtained 20,000 crore from Sahara due to the intervention of Abraham, he pointed. If corruption has taken place during the tenure of the previous government, then the officials are not to be blamed but the government.

A vigilance raid at the house of the officer in Jagathy on Friday had sparked a controversy.  He had lodged a complaint to the chief minister. The raid was following a complaint lodged by Joemon Puthenpurackal. However, the version of the vigilance was that a raid was not conducted instead the area of the building was measured as part of a quick verification.
