IAS association expresses protest on raid at K M Abraham’s house

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rift between the IAS and IPS officers is into a new level after the raid conducted at the house of K M Abraham, additional chief secretary, finance department.

The vigilance team probing the disproportionate assets case conducted the raid at the house of Abraham in Jagathy Wednesday morning following the directive of its director Jacob Thomas. Abraham was not at home when the vigilance team reached his place. The team left after collecting details from his wife.

Abraham conveyed his dissatisfaction on the raid to the chief secretary yesterday itself. A senior official of the IAS Association met chief secretary S M Vijayanand and conveyed their protest. The association told the chief secretary that the act of the vigilances will blemish the officials’ image. The vigilance act degrades the self-confidence of the IAS officers.  It is not right to level baseless allegations against honest officers, they said.

Cases are being registered against IAS officials after Jacob Thomas assumed power as vigilance director. This is not a good procedure. The association registered their dissatisfaction towards the act of Thomas. They also proposed to direct the vigilance to withdraw from such stands.
