IOC tanker lorry strike enters fourth day; pumps running out of fuel

KOCHI: As the IOC truckers and truck owners strike entered the fourth day, the fuel shortage became severe. All pumps in Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram have already been closed due to the shortage of petrol.

IOC has about 950 pumps in the State. The indefinite strike started last Saturday and the strikers demand that IOC rectify the deficiencies in tender procedures and bear the expenses of sensor and locking facility fixed on the tanker.

The compromise meeting called the other day in Kozhikode had also failed. BPCL, HPCL companies have also warned of strikes in case today’s talk fails.

Meanwhile, Indian Corporation said the strikers aim was to increase the tariff of fuel transportation and this would ultimately result in fuel price hike.
