Wagamon Camp accused among SIMI activists killed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: One of the SIMI activists killed in an encounter in Bhopal after they pulled off a daring prison break and escaped after killing a security guard at the Bhopal Central Jail, was an accused in the Wagamon case in Kottayam. He has been identified as Mehboob alias Guddu, 31st accused in the case.

The case is that the SIMI activists organised a weapon training camp at Thangalpara, Wagamon in December 2017. A probe by the NIA had found that the banned SIMI had organised camps in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. They also organised training in martial arts, arms training, bomb making, motor bike racing, rope climbing etc.

Guddu was also an accused in the case of killing police official Sitaram Yadav at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh in 2009. He jumped jail while facing trial in this case. He was also an accused in almost 17 cases.
