Kidnapping: Zakeer Hussain at Kudaku, says police

KOCHI: Police have got the information that CPM Area Secretary Zakeer Hussain, who is the main accused in the case related to kidnapping a business man, is currently in Kudagu in Karnataka. The investigation team has confirmed that they had intensified search to nab him. He was in the party village till Friday. So the police believe that he must have slipped to Karnataka today.

Police said his arrest was being delayed as his mobile was switched off. The police have also decided to put up look-out notices at airports.

Meanwhile, Zakeer has applied for anticipatory bail, in Ernakulam district court and this will be considered on Monday.    

Zakeer, who is also a district committee member, went to hiding after he was charged under non-bailable offence. The City Task Force, formed to supress goons, is now searching for the absconder. The locals said Zakeer was present in Kalamassery office till Thursday evening.

The force had filed case against Zakeer on October 27 for kidnapping the business man and threatening him.
