Defamation case against Biju Ramesh: Mani scales down demand

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Minister K M Mani has said that he need only Rs 20 lakh and not Rs 10 crore as compensation in the defamation case he had filed against bar owner Biju Ramesh.

Mani’s counsel submitted a petition in this regard today. He has also pleaded the court to avoid him from furnishing Rs 15 lakh as surety bond. The move comes soon after Vigilance started further probe in the bar bribery case against him.

Meanwhile, Vigilance has filed the progress report of the bar bribery case against Mani. The court had earlier ordered further probe against Mani. The case however was postponed to November 30. The Vigilance informed that it had recorded statements from seven witnesses and collected 21 evidence related to the case.
