Cooperative dept ready to construct pay wards in govt hospitals

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cooperative department is ready to construct pay wards in government hospitals, said Minister A C Moideen. The permission of the health department is needed again. One lakh employment opportunities would be created in the cooperative sector, he said.

The government is thinking of making permanent many including deposit collectors who have been working for the past 10-15 yearsin primary cooperative societies.

There are 2485 employees in KTDC. Outside contractors and trainees are the most. There are no special rules for appointing outside employees. Some of the hotels of KTDC are running at a loss due to this.

Three star hotels would be constructed in Muzhappilangad and Kozhikode, a five-star hotel in Munnar and 15 new cottages would be built in Pondmudy, he said.
