THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor and MP Suresh Gopi, who was the chief campaigner in the last assembly polls has officially joined the BJP. Though he was a member of the party state panel, he was not an official member of the party. He reached Parliament through Rajya Sabha membership given to noted persons as per article 80 of the constitution.
Prof Richard Hay, Anglo-Indian representative of the Lok Sabha, film directors Rajasenan and Ali Akbar, actor Beeman Reghu and Badusha, candidate of Malappuram are in the state panel. All these people reached the state panel after Kummanam Rajashekhran became the BJP state chief.
