Ready for talks to end violence in Kannur, says CM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Wednesday said that he is ready to hold talks to put an end to the violence in Kannur. However, the BJP is turning their face off in the attempt to restore peace. In reply to the notice for the adjournment motion, the chief minister said the police is taking an impartial stand against the violence.

Pinarayi said the people of Kannur are neither scared nor anxious. The RSS is spreading such false rumours. They are deliberately trying to create a tense situation in Kannur. More murders are not seen in Kannur. It is ranked sixth in the murders. Murders are mostly witnessed in the capital city. The murders that took place in Kannur were not political murders, he said.

It was K C Joseph who sought permission for a discussion on the violent incidents in Kannur. He alleged that seven murders took place in between four and a half months. The clash in Kannur is between the CPM ruling the state and the BJP ruling the centre. Meanwhile, the opposition trooped to the well of house alleging the ruling front to have disrupted Joseph’s speech. The assembly was disrupted for some time. The speaker gave a ruling asking the opposition not to threaten the chair.
