KANNUR: A CPM worker was hacked to death by some unknown persons today. The dead has been identified as Paduvilayi local committee member Kuzhichalil Mohanan.
He was an worker at a toddy shop at Pathiriyadu Valankichal.
When he was inside the shop, attackers barged in and hacked him. Though he was soon rushed to Thalassery cooperative hospital, he died before reaching the hospital.
Asokan, who was with Mohanan, was also injured in the attack.
CPM alleged that RSS was behind the attack.
After post-mortem at Medical college hospital, his body will be cremated at his house premises in Dharmadam.
In protest against the murder, the CPM has called for hartal from 6 am to 6 pm tomorrow in the Kannur district .
