Jayarajan turns back-bencher; A K Balan gets second place

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the day when the Assembly was adjourned for pooja holidays, E P Jayarajan as a minister was seated in the front row of the seats. His seat was next to that of the chief minister.

The 11-holiday period saw the fall of Jarajan after getting caught in controversy over the appointment of his relatives. He had to resign as minister. When the session started today again, Jayarajan who was reduced to just an MLA became a back-bencher.
Jayarajan’s new seating position was in the second row, next to S Sharma.

Interestingly, the person who came to replace Jayarajan in the seating position was Minister A K Balan, which clearly shows that he will be the second place holder in the cabinet in the wake of Jayarajan’s resignation.

CPM has not started discussion regarding the selection of the new Industries minister. It is said that though the new minister will be chosen, he will not be given the Industries portfolio and instead it will be handed over to Balan.

Now the chief minister is temporarily heading the Industries ministry. It may be handed over to Balan after some time. Balan is more senior to Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the party. Incidentally, G Sudhakaran who used to sit in the second row also shifted his position to the first row.
