March to EP’s house turns violent

THIRUVANANTHAUPRAM: A march staged to Xanadu, the official residence of Industries Minister E P Jayarajan involved in the relatives appointment issue, by youth congress activists seeking his resignation, turned violent Tuesday. The police used water cannons to disperse the agitated mob. The march which started from DCC office was blocked near Women’s College. The police used water cannons when they tried to topple the barricades after burning the effigy of the minister. Almost 50 activists including women staged a march to the minister’s house at 11.30 am.

Youth Congress state chief Dean Kuriakose asked Jayarajan to resign his ministership and face probe. After the corruption in self-financing sector, the government is involved in yet another corruption. The ministers are appointing relatives with the consent of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The real face of the ministers has been exposed soon after 125 days of the government assuming power. All the illegal appointments should be cancelled, he said.
