Crime branch to probe complaint on Bekal postal ballot

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DGP has ordered a probe on the complaint of not permitting postal ballots to cops on election duty. The crime branch will investigate the issue. A special team of the crime branch probing the postal ballot controversy in the police department is in charge of it. The probe is conducted on the complaint of 33 cops of Bekal police station in Kasargod. Strict action will be taken against the guilty, the DGP said.

44 of Bekal Police Station was on election duty. They had applied for postal votes before April 12. However, only 11 including the circle inspector was sanctioned postal ballot. The complaint was that the others did not obtain it.

It has been alleged that no action was taken even after a complaint was given to the collector four days before mentioning it. However the explanation of the collector is that postal ballots were permitted to all who have applied.
