KOLLAM: The court awarded life sentence to the seven accused in the murder case of Renjith Johnson, a native of Peroor. Renjith was abducted and murdered on August 15 in 2018.
The court has directed not to grant him bail or parole for the next 25 years. A fine of Rs 2 lakh was also slapped on them. The punishment was pronounced by Kollam additional sessions court.
The convicted in the case are Pambu Manoj (40), Ranjith alias Kattunni (30), Baiju alias Kaithappuzha Unni (39), Pranav aka Kukku (25), Vishnu (21), Vinesh (38) and Riyaz (30).
Previous enmity was the reason for the murder. Manoj and Renjith were friends. They turned foes after Manoj’s wife left him to live with Renjith who was running a pet shop.
The accused came to his pet shop masquerading as buyers and abducted him from his house. They then took him in a car to a deserted area in Chathannoor and murdered him. The body was later taken to Thirunelvi and dumped in a quarry pit.
