Jayarajan's cousin Deepthi also resigns

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Just hours after CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said corrective measures would be taken in the controversy over the government’s nepotism, minister E P Jayarajan’s close relative Deepthi Nishadh resigned from the post of Kannur Clay And Ceramic Ltd General Manager.

Deepthi is Jayarajan’s brother E P Bhargavan’s daughter in law and she resigned by today noon. It was a controversial appointment. The resignation letter was handed over to the MD of the institution.

Notably, the news of her resignation came out soon after the meeting between Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and E P Jayarajan.
The resignation has come at a time when the topic is to be taken up for discussion in the party secretariat to be convened day after tomorrow.

There was discontent within the party over the appointment of Deepthi to a key position. Her salary was Rs 40,000. She got appointed in the institution  under Industries department while she was working in a private institution in Bangalore.
Though Deepthi has resigned as the general manager, the controversy over her appointment, as in the case of P K Sreemathy’s son, is not likely to die down very soon.
