Quick Verification ordered against Mohanlal in elephant tusk case

MOOVATTUPUZHA: Moovattupuzha Vigilance Court has ordered Quick Verification against actor Mohanlal in a case related to the illegal possession of elephant tusk.

Quick Verification will also be conducted against Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan. The court has asked the Vigilance to submit the report within December 16.

The petition was submitted by Eloore Anthikkad house resident A A Paulose, seeking filing of a case against ten persons, making Thiruvanchoor accused number one and Mohanlal, the seventh accused.

Four tusks were found in Mohanlal’s Kochi Thevara house during an income tax raid in 2011. Though Kornadu Forest authorities had filed a case, it was cancelled later, following which Paulose approached the court against that.

Mohanlal’s contention was that he had bought the tusks from Thripunnithura native K Krishnakumar after paying him Rs 65,000. But the petitioner argues in his petition that Mohanlal’s contention will not stand as he had violated Wild Life Protection Act.

Other accused are Former Forest Department Secretary Mara Pandyan, Malayattoor DFO, Kodanadu Range Officer IP Sanal, Former City Police Commissioner K Padmakumar, Thrikkakara Assistant Police Commissioner Bijo Alexander, Thrissur native P N Krishnakumar, K Krishnakumar and Kochi royal family member and Chennai native Nalini Ramakrishnan.
