Relative’s appointment: CM chides E P Jayarajan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pianaryi Vijayan has rebuked Industries Minster E P Jayarajan for facilitating the appointment of his sister-in-law’s son Sudheer Nambiar as the managing director of Kerala State Industrial Enterprise.

The CM called him to the Kannur guest house and rebuked him. He is known to have told Jayarajan that the controversy had dented the image of the government. The meeting lasted for about 30 minutes and Jayarajan was sent back with a stringent warning that such things should not be repeated. Soon after the controversy was precipitated, Nambiar’s appointment was cancelled.

The meeting took place in Room Number 1. When Jayarajan walked in, there were P K Sreemathy MP and CPM Kannur District Secretary P Jayarajan. Both were sent out of the room before the chief minister called Jayarajan aside to talk.

“The damage done was not trivial; the Opposition was waiting to get a weapon to attack the government. Persons in the ruling party themselves should not give the Opposition the rod to beat the government. You should have discussed the appointment with me,” the CM is known to have told E P Jayarajan.

The Chief Minister also had criticised the way Jayarajan took on the media after the controversy erupted. He said there might be his relatives in top posts and he was not answerable to the media for questions about it.

Meanwhile, when asked about today’s meeting with the chief minister, he said, “there are many things to come out…I shall answer all questions together”.
