Medicos agitate against compulsory rural service

Wedneday, February 29, 2012: Medical Students in Thiruvananthapuram would stage a dharna before Medical Education Director’s office, today to protest against the Governments proposal to make one year’s rural service compulsory for medical postgraduates passing out from 2012-13.
They would also organise protest march in other districts
Through this, the Ministry aims to extend quality healthcare to the villages but the students alleged that by introducing compulsory rural service the government is trying to exploit the students and deny higher education.

our Respected Reporter has no idea about the issue, kindly evaluate in to a matter before writing on it publicly.......the bond period implemented by the govt is for 3 years as a whole after completion of MBBS, PG n superficiality which is not meant to improve rural health care rather to hide its loopholes of not appointin permanent doctors n to deny permanent jobs to doctors.................

There is an interesting debate that goes on in the media regarding compulsory rural service and many of my friends will be in a dilemma to chose on which side. In medicine if we doesn’t know the full truth we usually devise a scoring system. Given below is a scoring system. Answer true or false for the following 4 questions without taking stands on either side and know whether you are against bond system or not.
Q1: Since the medical students study with the tax payer’s money they should give it back to them by working for them in the rural areas.
Q2: In Kerala state 90% of tax comes from the rural areas and 10% from the urban areas.
Q3: In government professional colleges other than medical colleges, students pay such a high amount that, government doesn’t have to spent a penny to set up and maintain these colleges.
Q4: One year contract doctor is way high better than a permanent doctor for the upliftment of rural health sector.
If your answer is ‘TRUE’ for more than 2 questions, you must take a stand in favour of bond. If your answer is ‘FALSE’ for 2 or more than 2 questions then you must take a stand against bond.
