Drunken passengers will be prosecuted, says Railway
Friday, February 24, 2012: RPF Safety Commissioner K.J. Joy on Thursday informed that the Railway has imposed a ban on drunken passengers inside trains and on platforms. If caught, they would be sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and fined.
The decision was taken after it was found that most crimes inside trains had been done by drunken commuters. The decision comes in the wake of several incidents in which the women passengers are being attacked in trains.
K.J. Joy said breath analyzers would be used to check travellers.
