Amritha hospital nurses to go on strike from Tuesday
sunday, February 19, 2012: United Nurses’ Association (UNA) is planning another round of strike at Amrita Institute of Medical Science (AIMS), Kochi from February 21.
According to UNA officials, AIMS management has broken the contract signed in the presence of people’s representatives and government officials.
The agreement signed by both parties, AIMS management was given a three-month period to implement UNA’s demands, which ends on March 9.
“We accept that they have three month’s time to implement the terms. But they breached the agreement by taking vengeance against nurses who took part in the strike. Many nurses faced harassment from management officials.
Nurses of Amritha Institute of Medical College began their protest against the hospital management on December 6, 2011 where they demanded wage revision and an improvement in the working conditions.
The management is being revengeful towards the nurses who participated in the agitation.
