Sharjah sex racket: Bail plea of key accused dismissed

New Delhi, Friday, February 24, 2012: The Apex court today rejected the bail petition of Soudha Beevi, the main accused in Sharjah sex racket case.
The Sharjah sex racket case was registered at the Pathanamthitta police station in 2007 on the basis of a complaint filed by a 36-year-old woman at Kulashekharapati. She had alleged sexual exploitation by a racket promising a job in Dubai, adding that the same racket had trapped 300 women for sexual exploitation in Dubai.
According to police sources, Beevi had confessed before the police, during interrogation, that she was instrumental in the illegal traffic of 25 women to the Gulf for sexual exploitation during the past two decades.
The investigating team had arrested the second accused, L. Ahamed, 42, of Alambady Chalakara house in Kasaragod, and Shemia, 28, daughter of Sauda Beevi, earlier.
