Piravom poll: Last day for filing nominations on Feb 29

The Piravom assembly by-election will be held on March 18, along with by-elections in other states, the Election Commission announced on Thursday, adding that the counting will be on March 21.
The last date for nominations is February 29. March 3 would be the last day for withdrawal of nominations.
The lineup for Piravom has already been decided, with late T. M. Jacob’s son Anoop Jacob is set to take on his father’s traditional rival M. J. Jacob of the LDF.
The election will be crucial for the UDF, that’s running the government with a slender assembly margin. T. M . Jacob had defeated M J Jacob by 156 votes in the Piravom constituency in 2011 Assembly elections.
