Arun Kumar issue: Assembly panel to submit report soon

Friday, February 24, 2012: The joint legislature committee investigating the allegations against former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan’s son, V.A Arunkumar, will submit the report on March 8. The next sitting of legislative committee will be on March 2.
Arun is accused of some irregularties in his functioning as an official of a state-sponsored education agency.
The probe by the Inspection Wing of the Finance Department had found faults in Arun Kumar’s appointment and promotions he received in IHRD. It appeared that suspension of Arun Kumar as Additional Director of state-sponsored education agency Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD) was imminent.
It also questioned his posting as Special Officer of the Model Finishing School, set up during the fag-end of the previous LDF ministry headed by Achuthanandan.
Based on the report, Education Department had recommended the government to suspend Arun Kumar and another IHRD director Subramaniam and institute a detailed probe into the issues involved.
