Kerala against interlinking of rivers: CM

Wednesday, Feb 29 2012 : Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said that the State will not support any move to interlink rivers.
Talking to newspersons after the Cabinet meeting here, Chandy said that the Supreme Court (SC) verdict in this regard was not applicable to Kerala as the State has not given its consent for the interlinking of rivers. Reacting to SC order to constitute a special committee for interlinking rivers in the nation, he said the interlinking of rivers will affect the State badly.
The idea of interlinking of rivers was introduced by the previous BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, which was opposed by Kerala during that period also, he added
