Move to sabotage probe on E-mail snooping case

Sunday, February 19, 2012: It is alleged that there is a move to sabotage the probe on infamous Kerala email snooping controversy.
It seems that Kerala police has finished off the case after a criminal case had been filed against a police sub-inspector for his alleged involvement in the case. The case was filed at the Thiruvananthapuram Museum police station against the police personnel, S Biju of police high-tech cell, for preparing false documents and inciting communal hatred.
Museum police who probed the incident initially has handed over the case to Crime Branch. Madhyamam, a malayalam daily, had reported that email ids of leaders, activists, professionals, students and journalists from the minority community in Kerala were subjected to surveillance by the Special Branch of Kerala Police.
The report alleged that it was an attempt at religious profiling as out of the 268 e-mail accounts, 258 belonged to Muslims.
