Alleged medical negligence: Doctor’s car damaged

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Alleging that the death of a Democratic Mahila Association leader was due to negligence, a gang of people caused severe damage to a doctor’s car parked in front of his house in Pettah-Enchackal road.

The deceased was Nargees (50) from Nettayam (Vattiyoorkkavu). She was admitted to a private hospital in Peroorkkada for uterus removal on December 23. After the operation, she developed swelling all over the body. Following this the relatives managed to get her discharged from the hospital after a heated argument. They also settled the hospital bill to the tune of Rs 1 lakh, though the doctor had said that the operation would cost only Rs 40,000.

Nargees was then taken to another private hospital, where the doctors there found out that an accidental incision in the large intestine had fatally complicated her health. She was put on ventilator on serious state for days and finally she succumbed to the internal injury at 8pm on Friday.
