KOCHI: It has been hinted that many more celebrities will be in trouble on the charges of service tax evasion. The last to receive a notice for not paying service tax was noted singer Rimi Tommy.
Recently actor Dileep was questioned by the central excise department on charges of service tax evasion.The department had issued notices to 22 noted personalities seeking explanation for their alleged failure to pay service tax. The singer too is expected to give an explanation.
The notice was sent to the singer after she failed to produce the concerned documents on the income obtained from film and stage shows conducted inside and outside the country. She has been asked to give a reply directly or indirectly to the department and if she fails to do so, action will be taken.
