Guru’s teachings to be included in plus two syllabus, says Chandy

SIVAGIRI: The government will include the teachings of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru in the higher secondary (plus two) syllabus from the next academic year onwards, said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The chief minister said this at the 81st annual Sivagiri Pilgrimage meet on Monday.

The teachings of Guru had an important role in the growth of the education sector in the state. The relevance of the ideals preached by Guru had much value in the higher education sector. All sections of the society accepted the teachings of guru. The public and private sectors should join together as a leap is again needed in the higher education sector.

For Guru there was only one caste, creed and religion. The Sivagiri Pilgrimage convened every year is gaining importance on the ideals of teachings of guru, the chief minister said.
