PATHANAPURAM: The police Monday arrested the operator and his daughter in connection with the fire which broke out at their cracker unit at Pattazhy near Kollur Junction in Pathanapuram on Sunday killing one person and injuring five on Sunday.
A team led by Punalur circle inspector Manju Lal arrested the two identified as Ajaya Kumar (55) and his daughter Swathi (29), the licensee of the unit, last night itself.
Ajayan was arrested from Kottarakkara while he was on his way to meet his wife Shylaja (52) admitted in the medical college hospital with serious burns sustained in the fire and Swathi from Pattazhy itself. The police are questioning the two.
The dead person was identified as Paramasivam (32) from Sattur in Tamil Nadu. Meantime, the condition of Ajayan’s wife Shylaja, Mani Raj (23), Ponnuchami (47), Periyaswami (49) and Vinnarasu (30) continues to be serious. All except Shylaja are from Tamil Nadu.
