Suicide at Mass contact programme: Rs 7 lakh for victim’s dependents

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The dependents of Suseelan - who committed suicide allegedly being disillusioned by the chief minister’s mass contact programme in Kollam – will get Rs 7 lakh.

A cabinet meeting on Monday decided to give Rs two and a half lakh each for his two wards and Rs 2 lakh for her wife.    

Minister for Rural Development and Culture  K C Joseph, meanwhile, said the allegation that the man committed suicide after the latter’s complaint was not treated properly was baseless. All complaints from 14 districts were taken to the capital and decisions were thereafter. The ailing children of Susheelan would be given financial help for medical treatment. Dependents of four people killed in an accident during rathyatra in Kadavallor temple  

The cabinet also decided to earmark 37 cents of land in Nandavanam for K Karunakaran foundation.
