Attack on Sreenivasan unacceptable, says Kodiyeri

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said attack on Kerala State Higher Secondary Council vice-chairman T P Sreenivasan on the side-lines of Global Education meet at Kovalam is not acceptable. He also urged the SFI to take action against SFI District vice-president J S Sharath, who slapped the former diplomat.

At a press conference here on Saturday, Kodiyeri said the government is making all moves to privatise the education sector. The protest against this was what that was seen at Kovalam.
“All arrangements had been made for the safe exit of persons who had gone to attend the education meet. But, Srinivasan walked into the agitating crowd of SFI activist, who was provoked by his presence. Though he had provoked the activists, the CPM stand is that it is a wrong thing to beat a person. This incident had reduced the vigour of the protest and it gave an undesired result,” Kodiyeri said.
