Manoj murder case: No anticipatory bail for P Jayarajan

THALASSERY: Thalassery Sessions Court has rejected the anticipatory bail application of CPM Kannur District Secretary P Jayarajan in connection with the murder of RSS worker Kathiroor Manoj.

This for the third time that his bail application is being rejected. Now the stage is set for his arrest by CBI officials. In the report the CBI gave on January 21, Jayarajan was mentioned as the 25th accused.

Jayarajan has been charged for abetting crime, criminal conspiracy and under relevant sessions of UAPA related to planning murder and unlawful assembly.  Meanwhile, Jayarajan is under treatment in AKG hospital.

In the Manoj murder case, 24 accused were arrested and it included CPM Area Secretary and Branch Secretary. The CBI’s assessment is the murder was a result of political rivalry. The report submitted in the court said Jayarajan had personal and political rivalry against Manoj.

Manoj is a convict in the 1999 August 25 (Thiruvonam day) case in which a mob attacked Jayarajan’s house. In that case, the court had punished the convicts.

Manoj was the main person who had given a warm reception to about 500 persons who left the CPM and joined the RSS. According to DySP’s report, Jayarajan talked to prime accused Vikraman and gave him the responsibility to coordinate other accused persons to commit the crime. So Jayarajan was the main plotter in the case.

RSS Shareerik Shikshan Pramukh Elamthottil Manoj (46) was murdered in September 2014.
