Ten including nine Keralites killed in TN accident

THIRUNELVELI: Ten including nine Keralites have been killed in a bus accident at Panangudi near Valancherry in Thirunelveli. Four men, four women and two children are those killed in the accident.  Jimmy (33), a native of Kanya Kumari and Sujin, a six-year-old from Kochuthura in Thiruvananthapuram are the two identified. 27 persons have sustained injuries. The injured has been admitted at the Nagercoil Medical College. The condition of some are stated to be serious.

The accident happened Friday morning at 5.30 am. The bus involved in the accident was coming from Velankanni via Kanya Kumari to Thiruvananthapuram. The bus lost control and hit the divider. Police said the bus driver lost control of the vehicle while driving at speed, leading to the accident. The condition of the driver is also stated to be serious. There were altogether 38 persons in the bus.

Neyyatinkara additional tahsildar has left for the spot to coordinate rescue operations. 10 ambulances have also been sent to the spot. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said Thiruvananthapuram IG Manoj Abraham has been entrusted with the rescue operations. A medial team has also been sent to the spot.
