Sabarimala: SC directs action against threats on lawyer

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Monday directed the Delhi Government to take action against those who threatened the advocate for filing a plea seeking permission for women to enter Sabarimala. The court also directed Delhi police commissioner to ensure the safety of Muhammed Noushad Khan, president of Young Lawyers Association, who filed the plea. The court instructed police commissioner to submit a detailed report after executing the things asked.

Meantime, the court clarified that they cannot intervene in the campaigns against the advocate via social media. Isn’t it violation of fundamental rights not permitting women in Sabarimala, the court asked? The court rejected devaswom board’s demand seeking extension in considering the case. The court said they will consider it when the case is considered on February 8.
