SFI activists manhandle T P Sreenivasan at Kovalam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The march staged by the SFI in front of the Leela Palace Hotel in Kovalam turned violent on Friday. T P Sreenivasan former Indian Ambassador and currently executive vice-chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council, and Director General, Kerala International Centre, was manhandled by some activists when he came to attend the Global Education Meet at the hotel.  The protest was against the meet to be convened. When the activists manhandled the diplomat, the police stood as mute spectators, the diplomat told reporters.  

The activists deliberately assaulted me, alleged Srinivasan.

Meantime, national president V P Sanu said action would be taken against the activists if they are found guilty. Sanu and CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran have expressed regret on the incident. Several foreign dignitaries are taking part in the meet to discuss many things including sanctioning of foreign universities.
