Shall not ditch cinema even if I am offered minister’s post: Siddique

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor Siddique has said he would not leave cinema at any cost and plunge into politics. “Even if somebody calls me offering minister’s post, l’ll not quit the field,” he said.

“In cinema field, an actor may lose demand at any time. In that case, I shall try to change myself and try to remain in the field. The actor was interacting with media persons at Press Club as part of the promotion of the film ‘Sukhamayrikkatte’.

Regarding solar scam, he said, “those who cry for the chief minister’s resignation just because solar scam accused Saritha S Nair said something shows their immaturity”.

“Acting is not an easy job. Any job has its own difficulties. I like to see all characters positively. Mohanlal and Mammootty are two great actors who have taken Malayalam cinema to international standards. I hope to be part of the cinema that moves ahead safely with those two actors.

Siddique said Malayalam cinema field also has had to face ups and downs as in any other field. “We had doyens like Uroob, Vaikom Muhammed Basheer, Thakazhi and O V Vijayan but today how many such greats do we have in the literature field? In politics also, we had K Karunakaran, E K Nayanar, A K Antony. Now we have no such persons. I would like to compare this situation with scarcity of good stories in Malayalam cinema,” he said

To another question the actor said, he didn’t have the ability to teach his son acting. “A good actor need not be a good teacher in acting,” he added.
