Expulsion act again in Malayalam cinema

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ousting action has again taken the centre stage in the Malayalam cinema, which had stopped shooting works following a row over salary hike.

Though the producers’ association had decided to stop the shooting works from January 1, two companies started to shoot by paying hiked salary to the technicians. The two companies are Director Ranjith’s Capitol cinema and Global Media . Both these were expelled from the organisation.

The strike was started after Cinema technician’s association FEFKA demanded a hike of 30 percent for technical staff. What irritated the producers’ association was Ranjith-Unni R teams’ ‘Leela’ started the shoot in Kozhikode and Rajiv Ravi’s Dulquer Salman film started shoot in Kochi, despite the call for strike. Besides the above, FEFKA had informed that Jayaraj’s new film would start on January 5 and Sujith Vasudev’s  film will start on January 11.

After the third day’s shoot also got disrupted another organisation MACTA called for a meeting tomorrow. Office-bearers of producers’ association will also attend the meeting
