Vagamon SIMI camp: NIA files charge sheet

KOCHI: The NIA has filed a charge sheet in the case for organising a SIMI Camp at Thangalppara in Wagamon. The charge sheet was filed against two absconding accused Wasiq Billa and Alam Jeb Afridi. The charge sheet was filed at the NIA court in Ernakulam when the trial proceedings in the case was all set to begin.

A total of 38 persons are accused in the case for organising a SIMI camp at Thangalppara in Wagamon. The first charge sheet was filed against 30 persons in January 2011. In July 2013 six more persons were named as accused. Though the probe was delayed, the team was not able to nab Wasiq Billa and Alam Jeb Afridi. The two were nabbed when the trial was all set to begin. The two are 37th and 38th accused in the case.  

Billa and Afridi have been charged with participation in terror activities and association with terror groups besides criminal conspiracy and violation of the Arms Act among others in the charge-sheet filed before the special court in Ernakulam.
