Major fire in Mumbai’s high-rise building

MUMBAI: A major fire broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building in south Mumbai Friday evening but there are no immediate reports of casualties, a fire brigade official said.

The blaze started in the 26-storey Mount Plant building in Kemps Corner area of the posh locality, he said.

The official termed it as a major fire whose cause could not be ascertained yet.

Fourteen fire engines, seven water tankers and four ambulances have been rushed to the spot.

Several people are feared trapped inside the building above the 12th floor, where the fire first started.

Reports said four firemen have been injured in the rescue work, and they have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
