THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday has decided to take over Cochini Cooperative Medical College. To oversee the activities of the college, a panel chaired by District collector was also instituted.
Revealing this at a press conference after the meeting, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said Pariyaram Medical College would be taken over by the government only after the panel’s report was out.
For Manjeri Medical College, which has started functioning, 82 teaching posts, 28 junior resident posts and 64 non-teaching staff posts were sanctioned. The rest 160 post will be allotted from April next.
Nine posts requested by the judicial commission formed to investigate the solar case will also get the government nod. In order to make fresh drinking water available to the public at cheap cost, drinking water bottling plant will be established at a place near Malankara dam.
The government will also bring a bill to prevent exploitation and irregularity in real estate sector. The bill will be valid till the central government implements its own law in this regard.
