More restrictions on jail visits

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said that more restrictions will be in place for those visiting jails in the State. The government’s move comes following the controversy surrounding the alleged use of smartphones by the T P murder case accused.

“ID card will be made compulsory for the visitors. Restrictions will also be there on jail visiting hours. Net will be provided to prevent miscreants from throwing articles into the jail from outside. More CCTV cameras will also be installed inside and outside the jail,” the minister informed.

“The jail visit of K K Lathika, the wife of T P case accused Mohanan, is being investigated. It will be checked whether she made the visit at visiting hours or not,” said the minister.

He dodged questions on K Sudhakaran, MP, writing to Congress high command, seeking his removal from the home minister’s post. “I will reply to this at the right time,” he said. To a question related to Solar case, he said “it will be investigated where the accused, Saritha S Nair, got money to settle cases”.
